The first woman appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney for D.C. was Pearl McCall, in 1921. From then until 1970 only a dozen other women served as D.C. AUSAs. Carol Garfiel Freeman, eleventh on this list, has authored an article identifying these pioneers and summarizing their accomplishments.
