TRANSFER BY ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWEE
Oral History of Patricia Ann King
1. In consideration of the recording and preservation of my oral history by Women
Trailblazers in the Law, a Project of the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession
(hereinafter the “Project”), I, Patricia Ann King, hereby assign, grant and convey to the Project
and its successors and assigns, all of my rights, title, and interest in and to such oral history,
including the recordings, transcripts, computer diskettes, CDs, DVDs and/or videotapes of my
interviews, as described in Schedule A hereto, and copyrights and other literary and intellectual
property rights, except as reserved in paragraph 2 of this document.
2. I reserve for myself and to the executor of my estate a right to use the recordings,
transcripts, diskettes, CDs, DVDs and/or videotapes and their content as a resources for any
book, article or other writing of which I or my executor may be the author or co-author. In
addition, I hereby restrict the use of some or all of my oral history as specified in Schedule B
hereto.
3. I authorize the Project, its successors and their licensees to duplicate, edit, publish,
including publication on the Internet, or permit the use of said oral history, recordings,
transcripts, diskettes, CDs, DVDs and/or videotapes in any manner that the Project considers
appropriate, and I waive any claims I may have or acquire to any royalties from such use.
4. I authorize the Project, its successors and their licensees to use my name, likeness and
biographical information to indicate my role in the creation of said oral history, recordings,
transcripts, diskettes, CDs, DVDs and/or videotapes.

Possible Restrictions on the Use of Oral History by Interviewee
While we hope that you will not wish to place restrictions on the use of your oral history,
so as to maximize its availability to historians, scholars and others, we also understand
that some participants in the Project may wish to consider some such restrictions. If you
wish to restrict our use of your oral history, you may add the following to the end of
paragraph 2 of your agreement:
“In addition, I hereby restrict the use of some or all of my oral history as specified
in Schedule B hereto.”
Then you may add a Schedule B in the form attached and specify in Schedule B your
restrictions. Possible restrictions you may impose are illustrated below:
1. You may limit access to the materials:
a. You may provide that all or certain recordings, transcripts, and diskettes
and/or CDs shall not be made available to anyone other than yourself, the
interviewer, and the Project until a specified date or event without your written
permission.
2. You may impose limitations on the publication of your oral history:
a. You may limit publication of your oral history or any part thereof by
others during your lifetime (or some other date or event) without your written
permission.
b. You may limit publication of your oral history, or any part of your oral
history, during your lifetime without your written permission except that you may
authorize scholars, researchers, and others to make reasonable quotations from
your oral history without your written permission.
3. You may retain rights to your oral history:
You may retain all rights, title and interest in the tape recordings, transcripts, and
diskettes and/or CDs and their content, including literary rights and copyrights,
until a specified date or event, at which time the rights shall vest in Women
Trailblazers in the Law, a Project of the American Bar Association Commission
on Women in the Profession.
4. If you have retained rights that would survive your death, you may designate a
particular person to oversee disposition of your oral history in the event of your
incapacitation or death.
Schedule B
I impose the following conditions on the use of my oral history:
1. All recordings and tapes shall not be made available to anyone other than myself,
the interviewer, Naomi Mezey, and the Women Trailblazers in the Law Project
until my death without my written permission.
