Judge, U. S. District Court for the District of Columbia Nominated by Ronald Reagan on November 1, 1983; Confirmed by the Senate on November 11, 1983, and received commission on November 14, 1983. Assumed senior status on 2/1/1996. Service terminated on 6/2/2001, due to retirement.

Artist
Daniel B. Mistrik (1928 – 1997) – Mr. Mistrik painted for over 45 years. He specialized in landscapes, portraiture, still life, and human studies, working predominantly in oils and acrylics. Born in Buffalo, New York, he studied engineering and then turned to art, studying in Florida and Cape Cod. He taught drawing, composition, and oil painting at the Farnsworth Schools in Massachusetts. He opened the Mistrik School of Art in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 1959 where he taught drawing, landscape painting, still life, and portraiture to former art majors and professional artists

Mr. Mistrik won several awards for his work, most importantly the Best in Show at the 23rd Metropolitan Art Exhibit in Washington, D.C. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the northeast and south.
