2015 Law Clerk Reception

Over 200 current and former law clerks and judges from the District Court and the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit gathered on November 16, 2015 in the Courthouse's Bryant Atrium for a lively reception hosted by the Historical Society's Law Clerk Initiative. The clerks and judges heard remarks from Donald B. Verrilli, Jr., the Solicitor General of the United States, who recalled his days as a law clerk to Judge Skelly Wright of the Court of Appeals. Chief Judge Richard W. Roberts welcomed the law clerks and particularly General Verrilli, who was introduced by Chief Judge Merrick B. Garland. Following General Verrilli's remarks, Judge Brett Kavanaugh encouraged both current and former law clerks to join in the various activities of the Historical Society. Justice Elena Kagan, also a former D.C. Circuit law clerk, spoke at last year's Law Clerk Initiative event. The Law Clerk Initiative is chaired by Judge Kavanaugh and Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle.
